SCHOOL START TIMES

Please note that students are NOT allowed on the playground prior to 7:30am. The first bell rings at 7:46am and the tardy bell rings at 7:53am. The entire bell schedule is available below under the "Schedules and Calendars" tab.

Notice to Parents and Guardians

IMPORTANT: Please notify your child's teacher (note in backpack, note in agenda, email, etc.) if their afternoon dismissal routine has changed.

Dine in at the McDonald's on Wyoming & Harper on Thursday, December 14th from 5-7 p.m. Bring the McTeacher's Night flyer and 10% of your receipt will be donated back to Dennis Chavez Elementary School.

The DCES Student Council will be selling Holiday Grams from December 1st through December 11th. Holiday Grams cost $1 each and they can be sent to students, teachers, and/or staff.  Holiday Grams will come with candy but there is a non-candy option.

The "Wiz Of The West" is the classic "Wizard of OZ" story, but with a twist....or should we say, twister? All DCES students are encouraged to audition for this magnificent production.

Auditions are Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2:15 p.m. in the gym. 

Rehearsals will be after school starting January 8th thru January 12th in the gym and in Rooms 7/8. 

Performance will be on Saturday afternoon (time TBD) January 13th at Albuquerque Academy.

Free E-Books

Governor Susana Martinez has continued her initiative to provide a book for each of New Mexico’s first graders.  Accordingly, your school will be receiving a shipment of hardcover books for your incoming first graders for the 17/18 school year.  The book titles you receive may be one or more of the following fun, educational tales:  Deep in the Desert/En lo Profundo del Desierto, or T’1adoo naaltsoos wolta’7 bidilnih7!/Don’t Touch This Book!.

As part of this initiative, the publisher of Deep in the Desert/En lo Profundo del Desierto, Arbordale Publishing, is providing free access to 140 dual-language (English/Spanish), interactive eBooks for every elementary school student and their families through December 2018.
